1,586
Total Volunteers
122

Everyone, thanks for all your hard work, what a great event. The estimate was about 1000, based On the tickets that Paul Halford gave out. Hope that the food vendor was satisfied with the turnout. I enclose a note I received from Carolyn Sumners, of HMNS who attended. Please read particularly paragraph 3. You guys and gals are the best. I personally had a great time. Special thanks to Bill Leach and Cynthia Gustava.
Sincerely,
Barbara Wilson

Barbara and Peggy

You did a wonderful job organizing and cheerleading your outstanding Astronomy Day event -- so many amateurs, so many telescopes, so many speakers, so many activities, so much enthusiasm, and so many appreciative visitors. Everything and everyone was welcoming, educational, engaging, and up to the highest Museum standards.

My Mother had been most reluctant to come with us to the Observatory. She had not visited since the dedication in 1989. She enjoyed her golf cart ride up to the observatory she donated. She liked talking with teachers and with both of you. She thought the lecturers were very interesting and liked the exhibits.

But what impressed her most was the dramatic improvement in the facility, the warmth of all the volunteers, and the enthusiasm of all the visitors. Over and over again she said that this is what people should be doing -- this is what brings families together. She also thanked us many times for urging her to attend Astronomy Day.

My mother is 88 years old and it takes a lot to win her approval. She was most impressed.

And I was so proud to be part of your team.

Thanks for a very special day.

Carolyn
